This installation at the Fast CO. Grill was a five day activation to promote The UPS Store's Via Stories campaign during SXSW in 2015. The idea was to create a blank canvas that would allow the invited guests a place to share their stories of motivation, success, and inspiration as they visited the exposition. Knowing the attendees would be visiting from around the US, and playing off the #ViaStories graphic branding we created a map of the united states allowing people to participate while also representing their home location. The United States were created from cardboard boxes as The UPS Store's primary focus is on shipping packages to help create a unique environment for everyones story. My role on this project was to lead this project from the initial concepting from ideating what to do in the space all the way through lending a helping hand at the actual event. Working alongside the account management team we concepted the best way to help promote the hashtag #ViaStores in a way people could be expressive in person as well as on social media.
Option number 2 was selected to be developed as the activation due to timing and budget. A local to Austin fabricator was chosen and production began within a week from the event.
For this activation we were able to express The UPS Store characteristics within the smallest details built into the wall. Carefully hand-made cardboard boxes and signs make up the majority of the entire wall.
